To NICE FRENCH And they stayed at Sir Elton John's home.
Inside Elton John's French Estate, Where Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Vacationed
The musician recently revealed that the royal couple had spent some time at his home in Nice.
fter news broke that Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and baby Archie had taken a private jet to France for a secret getaway—sparking a wave of criticism—Elton John soon stepped in to clear things up.
The musician revealed that the royal couple had, in fact, been visiting his home in Nice, France—and that he'd provided the jet, which was made carbon-neutral, thanks to John's contribution to Carbon Footprint.
"After a hectic year continuing their hard work and dedication to charity, David and I wanted the young family to have a private holiday inside the safety and tranquility of our home," John explained in a Twitter thread.
So just what was Meghan and Harry's vacation like? Photos of Elton John's home can give royal watchers a pretty good idea. According to People, the structure was originally built in the 1920s as an artists' colony—but as the musician told Architectural Digest back in 2000, he gave "the summer house" a thoroughly Elton John makeover. (The photo below shows the estate in 1997; it was repainted yellow not long after.)
"Heaven must be like this," John told AD of his French home. "If Gabriel popped out from behind a tree and said hi, I wouldn’t be surprised. The gates close behind me, and I leave the rest of the world behind."
Meghan, Harry, and baby Archie also likely enjoyed some of the musician's signature dinners. AD revealed that each of Elton John's homes feature a dining room that can comfortably seat 10-12 guests, along with a set of good china and scented candles. John's even been known to take polaroids of the table settings so they can be perfectly reassembled to his liking.
