He Fled Halfway Around The World After ‘Tossing His Son Into The East River’ – Now He was only seven months old. His lifeless body was found washed up on the embankment of the East River under the Brooklyn Bridge, New York. The little boy was only wearing only a diaper. Two tourists who stumbled across the devastating scene and tried to help. Monte Campbell, from Oklahoma, waded into the river and attempted to give Mason CPR. But tragically the baby boy was already dead when he was flung into the river. He Fled To Thailand What makes this story even more tragic, is the person said to be responsible for Mason’s death is his own father. James Currie, 37, is suspected of throwing his dead baby into the East River. He then fled to Thailand to avoid charges. Currie picked up his infant child, Mason Saldana, from his mother’s home on Saturday. He reportedly took his son back to his apartment in Co-Op City, in the Bronx for an overnight stay. He was meant to then drop him off to daycare. But witnesses saw him leaving his home the next day with a big backpack covered with a blanket. He was later seen walking near South Street Seaport, in Manhattan, which overlooks the river where his son’s body was found. Mason’s Mother Is Distraught When Mason’s 36-year-old mother did not hear from her estranged boyfriend, she frantically called 911. Cops say the mom, who is estranged from Currie, heard about the baby found in the East River and was petrified it could be Mason. ‘I don’t think anyone could listen to the call without the blood curdling,’ NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea told New York ABC affiliate. ‘This is clearly something no parent should have to live through.’ Currie was stopped from entering Thailand at Bangkok airport. He was immediately put on a flight back to JFK Airport where he was arrested on Thursday. He now faces a felony charge of concealment of a human corpse. Once authorities determine a cause of death, Currie will face more charges.
