McConnell objects to House-passed bill to reopen Department of Homeland Security From CNN's Manu Raju Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell objected to an effort by Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine to move forward with a House-passed bill to reopen the Department of Homeland Security. The move prevents the bill from moving forward. One thing to note: McConnell told CNN earlier that the Senate would hold a procedural vote Thursday to take up President Trump's immigration plan. But the plan lacks the 60 votes needed to advance because of Democratic opposition. THEY HAVE TO PAY THEIR BILLS AND MOST OF ALL THEY NEED TO FEED THEMSELVES AND THEIR FAMILIES :
