Janet Jackson's nephew TJ Jackson admits that he 'never liked' his aunt's 'overly sexualized' performances: 'It degrades women'
Janet Jackson's nephew, TJ Jackson, revealed to fans on Twitter earlier Monday that he was never a fan of his aunt's 'overly sexualized' performances.
The music artist, 44, responded to a clip that was tweeted to him by a fan showing the hitmaker, 56, on stage singing Would You while dancing seductively during a risqué performance.
He typed out, 'I never liked when she did this in concerts either. I don't like when females are overly sexualized in art...it degrades and objectify's women in a way that's not healthy. I prefer the That's The Way Love Goes Janet.'
The singer was met with mixed responses following the tweet, with one fan expressing they 'understand' TJ's comment about his aunt, who was slated to receive the Global Impact Award at the 2023 Grammys, but instead was awarded to Dr. Dre.
Others debated that the performances were 'entertainment' as well as a way of 'art' and expression on the stage.
'I love black women,' he began to write out in a separate tweet to another social media user.
'I wish you would respect the black women we put in our music videos and if you are really serious about making a difference stop supporting the negative image many female black celebs today portray.'
TJ then brought up Cardi B's hit track, WAP, and stated that the track, 'was not a good look. That deserves your energy.'
Also on Monday, he followed up with, 'To all the black women out there.... know your worth. I truly believe you are the strongest beings on the planet. Don't sell yourself short. Become the queens you are meant to be,' and added the hashtag '#lovealways.'
One follower who responded to his original tweet regarding his aunt's 'over sexualized' performances, questioned the soul artist with, 'Do you think maybeeee you just have a different outlook on it because she’s your literal aunt?'
'I don’t agree with your point, but I think maybe Janet isn’t the best person to make your point.'
Janet's nephew responded directly to the social media user and wrote, 'Nah...I didn't like it ...it just diminishes her amazing talent. But would love to hear your disagreement. #respect.'
Another fan jumped into the string of comments to leave a reply and added, '& how does it diminish her talent? Elaborate. If a man does the same performance, what does it do to his talent?'
TJ explained, 'It's unfair but men aren't as objectified as women. Nevertheless to me it diminishes it and leads to other stereotypes.'
'Vulgarity is not art to me...it's more shock and awe and can lead to perceptions, and even worse, role models that don't help our advancement,' he concluded.

He later retweeted a social media user stating, 'A bit of mass confusion. I saw someone else say he called Janet a “h**”. He did not.' Janet's nephew added his own comment and typed, 'Of course I didn’t. She is a [angel].'
Janet, who has yet to publicly respond to her nephew's comments, has been preparing for her anticipated Together Again Tour which is set to kick later this year in April, and will come to an end in Seattle on June 21.
The All For You singer made a live announcement on her Instagram late last year in December to share the news, and excitedly stated, 'I’m going back on tour and, yes, we will be together again. I miss you guys so much and I cannot wait to see you,' per Billboard.
Rapper, Ludacris, will also be the opener during the tour, which is set to stop in a total of 33 U.S. cities, and also teased that, 'There will be new music.'
