YARA SHAHIDI’S ‘BLACK-ISH’ SPIN-OFF RENAMED ‘GROWN-ISH’ Earlier this year it was confirmed that there would be a spinoff of ABC’s hit show “Black-ish,” starring Yara Shahidi. It was announced that show would appear on Freeform, and was previously titled “College-ish.” With the series drawing closer the show now has a new name. According to Entertainment Weekly, the series will now be called “Grown-ish,” opposed to its previous title. Creator Kenya Barris talked about the shows new name in a statement, she said, “Grown-ish reflects what we’ll be dealing with in the show — that in-between place where you’re not quite an adult but facing grown world problems for the first time. Where Black-ish examines what it means to be black, Grown-ish is an examination of what it is and what it means to be grown.” The show will follow Shahidi’s character Zoey Johnson as she leaves her parents household and heads off to college at Southern California University. It was previously mentioned that Deon Cole would be joining his “Black-ish,” co-star on the new series. The network recently announced that Trevor Jackson, Chris Parnell and Emily Arlook would join Shahidi and Cole on the show as cast members. Roommates, will you be tuned into “Grown-ish?”
