Rosie O’Donnell has been joking that Tatum O’Neal is her “new wife,” even though the pair strongly deny they are dating.
Page Six reported that O’Donnell and O’Neal shared an intimate dinner at Greenwich Village restaurant Da Silvano last month, and attended Broadway show “Hamilton,” where O’Donnell was heard joking O’Neal is her “new wife.”
But O’Donnell’s spokeswoman, Cindi Berger, insists the women are not romantically involved: “They’ve been friends for several years since they met in Chicago when Rosie did a show for OWN and Tatum did a docu-series for OWN.”
O’Neal, 51, revealed earlier this year that she is now dating women. She told People, “I like women. I definitely have been dating mostly women recently.” Of her sexuality, she said, “I’m not one or the other.”
She continued, “I think women are the most amazing creatures on earth. They’re gentle, and also more intelligent than the men I’ve met recently. I don’t have a steady right now, but I look forward to it.”
O’Donnell, 53, filed for divorce from second wife Michelle Rounds six months ago, after less than three years of marriage. The pair is still battling in court to settle the divorce.
The former “The View” host has also been going through a difficult time after her adopted daughter Chelsea, 18, went missing last month and was found a week later at the home of alleged heroin user Steven Sheerer. Chelsea has since gone to live with her biological mother.
