Katy Jurado was born María Cristina Estela Marcela Jurado García in Guadalara, Mexico and was the first Mexican National actress to be nominated for an Academy Award.

First Mexican and Latina to be nominated for an Academy Award. In 1966 she reprised her "Helen Ramirez" role from "High Noon" (1952) in a "High Noon" TV pilot called "The Clock Strikes Noon Again" which co-stared Peter Fonda as the son of Will Kane.
