Concert Version of The Little Mermaid
Not to be confused with the live-action Disney movie, which will reportedly star Melissa McCarthy as the purple sea witch. We’re talking about the live-action TV special, which is being brought to small screens by ABC in celebration of the original Disney film’s 30th anniversary. And we know what you’re thinking. Could there be too many Little Mermaid remakes coming out this year? And the answer is of course not.
Queen Latifah announced via her Instagram account that she will be portraying the ruthless sea witch in the production and we could not be more excited to see her belting out “poor unfortunate soooouuuuls“. Ariel will be portrayed by Auli’i Cravalho (who you might know as Moana). Shaggy (who you might know for his 2000’s hits like “Wasn’t Me” and “Who Let The Dogs Out” will be portraying Sebastian.
The ABC special is set to air on the 5th of November and feature songs from the original film as well as hits from the Broadway version.
