Royal reveal: Fears Meghan and Harry biography could ‘savage’ monarchy
MEGHAN MARKLE and Prince Harry have reportedly collaborated with the authors of their new biography which could inflict more grief on the Royal Family.
One of those journalists is apparently Omid Scobie who is seen as close to Meghan Markle and was one of the few journalists given details of the couple’s video call to the Queen when they wished her a happy 94th birthday last week.
The co-author of the Sussexes’ biography is supposedly the American journalist Carolyn Durand.
The 320-page book is said to be released on August 11, according to the Mail on Sunday.
The news of the new book comes after Meghan entered the first round of a legal dispute between herself and owner of the Mail on Sunday.
The Duchess of Sussex is suing the publisher, Associated Newspapers which owns the Mail on Sunday, over an article published in 2019.
Meghan claimed the article breached her privacy as it reproduced parts of a handwritten letter she sent to her father in August 2018.
The Duchess’ barrister David Sherborne told the hearing on Friday that Meghan would give evidence against her father in court for any future trial if required.
Mr Sherborne said his client had suffered “great personal anguish and distress” as part of an alleged “agenda” against her.
He told the court that if Associated Newspapers want to “cross-examine” Meghan as to whether this is truth or not then “they can do that”.
Associated Newspapers denies the allegations made by Meghan Markle saying the story was in the public interest.
Sources told the Mail on Sunday that the new biography will tell the story of the couple since the start of their romance.
The book was reportedly due to be published by the New York-based Dey Street Books in June but has been delayed, possibly due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Royal insiders are allegedly worried about what the Sussexes might have divulged in their interviews with the book authors.
Earlier this year, the ITV anchorman Tom Bradby who interviewed the couple on their trip to southern Africa last Autumn, reportedly warned that a tell-all interview might damage a monarchy still healing from Megxit.
During Mr Bradby’s interview with Harry in southern Africa for the ITV documentary, the prince revealed he had a rift with his brother Prince William.
Meghan also confessed to the pressures of motherhood under the media spotlight in an interview with Mr Bradby for the same documentary.
She told him: “Not many people have asked if I am okay.
“It’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.”
Meghan added: “I really tried to adopt this British sensibility of a stiff upper lip. I tried, I really tried.
“But I think that what that does internally is probably really damaging.”
The two journalists Mr Scobie and Ms Durand, reportedly began work on the biography project in the summer of 2018.
Amid Scobie writes about the Royals for the Harper’s Bazaar website and Carolyn Durand is a former producer for the US network ABC.
