Drew Barrymore enlisted a surprising guest in order to promote her new talk show — herself almost 40 years ago.
The clip used footage of Barrymore today, spliced with clips from her 1982 interview with Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show.

Barrymore was being interviewed in the wake of her work in Steven Spielberg’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial at the age of seven.
“I’ve been waiting all my life to meet you,” the young Barrymore says in the clip as she is introduced by her older self.
Coming September 14th on CBS.
