Clifton Davis an actor in the 70's that broke women's hearts because he was fine to a lot of them he also had a gift for writing songs and one day he sat down and wrote a tune called Never Can Say Good-Bye that's right this man wrote that song and Motown came a calling for it. They wanted the Jackson 5 to sing it and little Michael but the hurt on that tune till this very day it blows you away. Well of course a friendship started with Clifton and the Jackson family for years they kept in touch and till Michael turned 18 that might have been the ending. One day for no reason at all a story started going around that Michael now at 18 was going to do something and do it for someone but no one knew what that was going to be but finally the story broke out and it hit the streets faster then a speeding bullet Michael was going to have a sex change operation to become a woman and marry actor and song writer Clifton Davis. Well you could only wonder what was happening in the Jackson camp when that story got out Michael was shopping at a store and a fan approach him and said tell me Michael please tell me this is not true he said what is not true that your going to get a sex change and Michael said what he couldn't believe what he was hearing he said of course not he ask the fan where did you hear of such story she said on the news and he said but why would I get a sex change and she said to marry Clifton Davis. Well that was all Michael needed to hear so along while after that some thought Michael was gay and he wanted to get that operation done and Joe was against it but as time went by and Clifton moved on he too couldn't believe how people thought that was true but the story died down but till this very day that story has left some to believe that maybe just maybe something was there but it couldn't be proven.
Words and story by Candy Side note the Michael and the fan was what Michael himself has mention from interviews so I am only going on memory.

Yes it was a big story back then your family was spot on. That story changed Michael's life it started the gay rumors back then but since being gay wasn't as out as it is now it made it more mild for him to go about his business without to much backlash. Some story

If he was gay and he was allowed to live as his authentic self publicly, then maybe the darkness and rumors that plagued his life in later years would have never become his reality..but times were different back then...but when you dont allow people to be who and what they are, ugliness can follow...

Well that rumour could have been out but I doubt it affected Clifton's ability to get work. The 70's-80's, he was one hot property. He acted a lot on Broadway and guest starred in a lot of tv shows and tv movies. Look at his Wikipedia page, he stayed busy. Also not gay, he was in a long term relationship with Melba Moore and dated Sally Kellerman, Nancy Wilson and Victoria Pricipal. He was a ladies man and left Hollywood in the early 80's to get clean from a drug habit and become a real life minister.

I remember those roomers. Clifton was very much a lady's man in the 70's but it was also well known that he was into groupies. Alot happened back then and there are probably things we will never know that contributed to his drug use and downward spiral. Luckily he cleaned himself up because he was and still is an amazing talent , especially when it comes to songwriting.
