BROOKS-KRISTOS... wants to keep spreading God’s word to others
This is the sixth in The Jamaica Observer's 10-part series on the finalists in the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission's (JCDC) Gospel Song Competition.
STACEY-ANN Brooks-Kristos hopes her entry Give Me Jesus will be the winning choice in this year's Jamaica Cultural Development Commission's (JCDC) Gospel Song Competition. The final is set for the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre in St Andrew, on Sunday.
Brooks-Kristos, a Christian of 15 years, shared the inspiration that brought about her entry.
"I was going through a rough time right before I wrote the song. I had the support of my family and friends, but it was still hard. But one day I woke up and just felt like singing for Him. I called my mother and prayed with her and afterwards felt inspired to write [the lyrics]," she told the Jamaica Observer.
The 32-year-old St Catherine resident said being one of the finalists is one of the best things that ever happened to her and is raring to go come competition day.
"I can't wait to go up there and minister," she said.
"I know that God can help you through any experience, and I know He will be there with me on stage."
After Sunday's final, Brooks-Kristos said there is no slowing down.
"I want to keep spreading God's word to others after the finals, especially to the young, because they are our future. I want to reach as many people as I can, and spread the Word of God around Jamaica and the world," she said.
