Oprah Winfrey's been cast to play Richard Pryor's grandmother -- a cruel and abusive lady pimp -- in the upcoming biopic directed by O's pal Lee Daniels.
Pryor's widow, Jennifer, tells TMZ ... Oprah got hold of the script, and was desperate to play Marie Carter -- the woman who raised Pryor in her brothel in Peoria, Illinois ... and who was known to beat him. As we told you ... Mike Epps scored the Pryor role.
We're told Oprah really wanted to play Grandma Carter because she's anxious to show her gritty side -- after her 'Butler' performance -- and let's face it ... there's not much grittier than an abusive grandma running a whorehouse while raising a kid.
But Epps to play Richard I don't know about his casting how about Steve Harvey as he ages just saying.

But if he lose the weight man he could do it better then Epps I just don't see where he looks like Pryor.
Should be a good movie I recall seeing his life once before the movie was called Jo Jo Dancer Your Life Is Calling.
The plot :
Pryor plays Jo Jo Dancer, a popular stand-up comedian who has severely burned himself in a drug incident. The film came out after Pryor had severely burned himself in an attempted suicide.
As Dancer lies hospitalized in a coma, his spiritual alter ego revisits his life, from growing up in a brothel as a child and struggling to beat the long odds to become a top-rated comedian. However, his success leads to extensive drug use and womanizing that takes its toll on his life. Jo Jo's spirit watches and attempts to convince his past self to end the cycle of self-destruction.
