NEW YORK (WABC) -- The gastroenterologist who performed the endoscopy on Joan Rivers is no longer performing procedures at the facility where the comedienne and actress went into cardiac arrest.
Dr. Lawrence Cohen, the medical director of the facility, was asked to leave Yorkville Endoscopy and has since stepped down.
Sources tell ABC News that Dr. Cohen allowed a specialist unaffiliated with the clinic to examine Rivers, even though that doctor was not authorized to practice in the clinic.
That ear, nose and throat specialist was present at the time of the endoscopy.
The State Health Department is investigating. Neither Dr. Cohen nor the ENT specialist has been accused of wrongdoing, but the investigation continues.

Something did seem strange about that, she went in for a procedure and went into cardiac arrest?

And she was 81 there must be put into place of anyone that age that it might be better to do this in a more safer way like in a hospital setting.
