Pushing its way into original scripted programming, TV One has announced the debut of its new scripted comedy "Born Again Virgin," which the network will premiere on Wednesday, August 5 at 10PM/ET.
The series will follow the dating lives of three 30-something best friends - Jenna (played by Danielle Nicolet), a writer who decides to become celibate after a stream of unsuccessful dates and hook-ups leave her wanting more meaningful relationships; and her girlfriends, Kelly (Meagan Holder), a successful publicist with a trail of bad relationships, and Tara (Eva Marcille), a budding actress who lives a celebrity-inspired lifestyle.
Joining then is Donovan (Durrell "Tank" Babbs), their "hot neighbor" who tempts Jenna's celibacy vow. Each week, the ladies will work through their dating woes, career challenges, and friendship.
"The face of abstinence is changing daily, as evidenced by Russell Wilson's recent disclosure of abstaining from sex with girlfriend Ciara, and proving that even when sex is removed from the relationship equation, there remains a never-ending supply of flirty fun and adventure to be had," said D'Angela Proctor, SVP Original Programming & Production for TV One. "As Jenna's journey continues, viewers will see that sexual liberation doesn't have to include sex at all."
Born Again Virgin was created by Ranada Shepard. The series is produced by Swirl Films. Eric Tomosunas serves as Executive Producer. Lamar Chase is Producer for TV One. Tia A. Smith serves as Executive In Charge of Production. Robyn Greene Arrington is Vice President of Original Programming and D'Angela Proctor is Head of Original Programming for the network.
