After 23 years of marriage, R&B singer Kelly Price and her husband Jeffrey Rolle, Sr. are getting a divorce.
AlwaysAList.com has confirmed that the 42-year-old ‘Tired’ singer and her husband—who has also worked as her manager for the duration of her career—have decided to part ways. They’ve also ended their management relationship as well.
The New York-bred couple have been married since they were 19-years-old. Their split is an amicable one and they have two children together—a son, Jeffrey Rolle Jr., 23, and daughter, Jonia Rolle, 21.
The seven-time Grammy nominee told AlwaysAList.com that the decision to get divorced was about “mutual happiness” and that couple had just grown apart after more than two decades of being married.
“After the untimely death of my sister last year, it weighed on me heavily that this was something we needed to do. I ultimately made the decision to live the best life I can. I ended things because I didn’t want to compromise what true happiness was anymore,” Kelly exclusively told AlwaysAList.com, before adding: “There are no hard feelings and I will love Jeff until the day I die!”
Price plans to sing about her divorce in a way that speaks to other women on her upcoming album, “Sing, Pray, Love Vol. 2: Pray,” which is slated to bow via eOne Nashville in 2016.
Rolle—who in addition to artist management has a photography business and does art direction for recording artists—has opted not to issue a statement.
Best known for hits like ‘Friend of Mine,’ ‘You Should’ve Told Me,’ ‘It’s My Time’ and her remake of the Shirley Murdock classic, ‘As We Lay;’ Price has released five R&B albums, one Gospel CD and a Christmas album during her career.
A former background singer for Mariah Carey and collaborator of Bad Boy Records, The Isley Brothers and R. Kelly; she starred on the TV One reality series “R&B Divas: Los Angeles” in 2013. After season one Price departed the show.
