I really hope this gets made so many stories haven't been made like Marvin Gaye and the likes of Sammy Davis. Following years of requests for a film surrounding the life of Motown sweetheart Tammi Terrell, it’s finally coming true. Castle’s Tamala Jones will producing biopic for the singer slated for production next year and will be based on My Sister Tommie by Ludie Montgomery, who is also behind the production. Some of you may recall, that Vampire Diaries‘ Kat Graham was also making a film about the life of Tammi Terrell, and it appears to still be a go. This new production, however, has the backing of Terrell’s estate.
For those of you unfamiliar with Terrell, she was one of Motown’s most successful artists. Starting as a background singer for Patti LaBelle and James Brown and working her way up singing along side Marvin Gaye, Terrell’s impact on music can still be felt today. Many of you know her hits “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and “You’re All I Need to Get By” as two of the most iconic and recognizable songs in American music history. Unfortunately, Terrell’s life and career were cut short when she died of a brain tumor at the young age of 24 but her music continues to live on. There’s no word yet on who will play Terrell in this biopic but we’ll keep you posted.
