Oh really now this needs to STOP !
A 21-year-old man was slashed in the face after waiting in line for the new Spring line of merchandise at a SoHo skatewear shop Thursday afternoon — the fifth blade attack in the city within the last three days, officials said.
The victim had just made a purchase at Supreme on Lafayette Street near Prince St. when a man in a ski mask jumped him about 2 p.m., dragging a blade across his face.
Hundreds of young people were lined up outside for the release of Supreme’s new duds.
“He sliced me! He sliced me!” the victim screamed according to onlooker Jamal Green, 28.
“It was a slash...like a check mark under his right eye,” Green said. “He was bleeding...bleeding a lot.”
The attacker ran off. No property was taken.
Police say witnesses told them the slasher had accused the victim of jumping the line to the store.
As of Wednesday there have been 526 slashings and stabbings in the city this year — 87 more than during the same time period last year, an increase of nearly 20%, according to NYPD stats.
NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton said “people shouldn’t be worried” about slashings in a radio interview Thursday morning, calling them “isolated incidents.”
