Google pulled it’s April Fool’s prank on Friday after it backfired causing workers to lose their jobs. Google blamed a “bug” after Gmail users complained that they were fired for inserting a GIF into their emails of a minion dropping a microphone. A dropped mic usually signals the end of a skit or a rant. But some employers who received the “mic drop” GIF didn’t think it was funny. Google apologized to Gmail users in a statement this morning: “Well, it looks like we pranked ourselves this year. Due to a bug, the Mic Drop feature inadvertently caused more headaches than laughs. We’re truly sorry. The feature has been turned off. If you are still seeing it, please reload your Gmail page.”
