James Avery, who played Uncle Phil from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, died Tuesday. “I’m deeply saddened to say that James Avery has passed away. He was a second father to me. I will miss him greatly,” Alfonso Ribeiro tweeted in revealing the sad passing. Avery reportedly had undergone heart surgery and died from complications in a Los Angeles hospital. He played Will Smith‘s uncle in the popular 1990s sitcom that took him from rapper to mainstream actor. May he Rest In Peace.
