Eurythmics to Reunite for Beatles Grammys Special
John Mayer, Alicia Keys, John Legend and Maroon 5 also set to perform during 'The Night That Changed America'

The Eurythmics will reunite to honor the Beatles for a televised special commemorating the Fab Four's legendary U.S. debut on The Ed Sullivan Show, the Recording Academy announced today. The synth-pop duo will be performing a Beatles song later this month during The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute to the Beatles, which will also feature duets from Alicia Keys and John Legend and John Mayer and Keith Urban, as well as a performance by Maroon 5.
The reunion will mark the first time that Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart – who released their debut album as the Eurythmics in 1981 and scored an enduring hit with "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" before launching successful solo careers – have performed together since 2005.
"What I felt was important was to try and find those artists who not only would be able to interpret Beatles songs, but would also have an . . . understanding of what they meant," Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich told the Associated Press.
Stewart does have some personal connection to the evening's honorees: In May 2012, it was announced that he was working with Ringo Starr on a film musical for Paramount called Hole in the Fence, a coming-of-age tale about kids who form a band in a downtrodden mining town.
The Night That Changed America will tape at the Los Angeles Convention Center on January 27th, the day after the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, and will be broadcast on CBS on February 9th – exactly 50 years after the Beatles made their historic Ed Sullivan appearance.
